Simon Says Stamp and Show Men Only!

Hello everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... Men Only! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Lynne knew exactly what she was going to do for this weeks challenge....a MAN CARD. As she is such a "FLOWER GIRL" manly things can be quite challenging!!! The entire card was created around the moustache from Men and More. She dabbed on some fiber paste and when dry added Vintage Photo Distress Stain. The hand was lathered with Picket Fence Distress Stain and Stamped with Jet Black Archival Ink. For another manly touch, she added a Timepiece. She then roughed up the card with the Distrezz it All and some ink!
Sarah really wanted to use her Artistic Outpost stamps and thought it was high time she created a card  to inspire all the other card-makers out there. She used Rusty Hinge, Weathered Wood and Stormy Sky Distress Inks to colour the background before stamping the wonderful image in Versafine Ink adding a little stamped bunting too! She indulged in lots of vintage torn layers using October Afternoon papers and Hero Arts Lace Ribbon all mounted on Bazill Cardstock.
Tracy enjoyed making a chunky ATC so much last week that the MEN ONLY challenge allowed her to indulge once again in these addictive forms of art. This weeks piece has been adorned with stamped images from Wendy Vecchi's Steampunk Art and Tim's Steampunk set. The ATC has been coloured with Distress Stain Vintage Photo and all the background pieces coloured with Distress Ink Vintage Photo and Aged Mahogany. Embellishments include Idea-Ology Sprockets, Fragments, Memory Frame, Corners and a 7 Gypsies Knob. Pop by Tracy's blog for more details.
Nancy's husband is all about the outdoors and so she naturally gravitated to an outdoor sport for her *man* project this week. Beginning with a simple piece of particle board, she first painted it with a layer of Claudine Hellmuth Gesso. Then layered pieces of leftover scrapbook paper on top of that using Claudine's Matte Medium. In between the pieces, she scribbled in some watercolor crayons to smudge the edges and finished off with Studio 490 shelves and Art For Men rubber stamps.
When Candy thought of Men Only, she thought of Graphic 45's Proper Gentleman Paper Collection.  So naturally, she used those beautiful papers along with Tim Holtz' Gadget Gears, Rosette, and Pennants to create this wonderful vintage picture frame.  Crackle Accented clock faces and Platinum Stickled accents help to create the vintage feel.  There is even a Kraft Paper pouch and strap attached to hold extra photos and memorabilia!
For her Men Only project, Linda used an old favorite stamp set called Keeper from Artistic Outpost and combined it with a newer Tim Holt set Curiosities.  Lots of distress inks including Scattered Straw, Frayed Burlap and Vintage Photo were also used as well as Glossy Accents.
Ellen found an old picture of her Dad and two uncles when they were very young (Dad on right) and used it as inspiration for a hand-made mini book, celebrating "brothers".  The covers are cut from a cardboard box, painted with distress crackle paint and edged with tissue tape.  The chipboard frames are from Maya Road.   Idea-ology sprocket gears and game spinner, and alpha part letters.  Inside, the pages are made from Kraft Resist paper and various colors of distress stains.   The book was bound together using The Cinch with 1" binding rings
This topic got Dan thinking about classic male figures through art history, and he was immediately drawn to Michelangelo's undiscovered masterpiece, the Jonah Lisa!  Having been inspired by this enigmatic icon of male beauty, Dan created this tribute to the mysterious classic!  Products he used included Promarkers, Clockworks embossing folder, Memento Tuxedo Black ink pad and the Mona's Sketchbook stamp set.
Terry made a card for the Men Only project, using the fabulous Fall Seasonal Distress Inks. The Art Parts For the Guys from The Wendy were just perfect. The first layer on the card was made with Tim Holtz tissue tape, just like the flower and worked on with distress inks. The clock and sentiment comes from the stampset The Journey. Furthermore she used the Crackle Distress and Glossy Accents.
There are a few special men in my life ... and three of them are on Tim's Steampunk stamp sheet :0) For the background colour on my tag I used Shabby Shutters Distress Stain; Peeled Paint and Vintage Photo Distress Ink and a mist of Perfect Pearls in Heirloom Gold. The background stamping is made using the fabulous Shabby French set and of course no tag is complete without a bit of Idea-ology!

Simon Says Stamp and Show an Artist Trading Card!

Hello everyone! Thank you for playing along with last week's Challenge! The winners will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! This week Simon Says Stamp and Show ... an ATC! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Ellen started with a manila ATC from Ranger and used aged mahogany, crushed olive, and picket fence distress stains to create a marbled background. Then used the alpha background, leafy vine and sentiment stamps from Dylusions, and perfect pearls to paint in the leaves, and a white gel pen to accent the vine. Added accents with a cream pearl pen by Viva. Stitched around the edges on the sewing machine.

A first for Tracy, a CHUNKY ATC, one which she thoroughly enjoyed making using Tim's Season's Silhouettes and Odds And Ends set of stamps. The ATC was painted with an undercoat of Claudine Hellmuth's Gesso and a top coat of Distress Stain Broken China. Tracy used all four sides to the max, decorating each with Tim's Reindeer Flight and adding a couple of the special Christmas Adornments from Tim. Noel, Joy and Christmas were added to jump rings, a favourite technique of Tracy's at the moment.

Lynne has been waiting for the opportunity to use her Picket Fence Distress Stain and having been inspired by Tim Holtz tutorial....off she went. The other Distress Stain colors used were Peeled Paint, Dusty Concord, Faded Jeans and Broken China. The process wouldn't be complete with out a Craft Mat, Heat It Tool and some beautiful stamps. Color some flowers, add a little verbage and there you have it.
ATC...That means Aren't They Cute doesn't it?! Sarah had a great time playing with Wendy Vecchi Art Parts on her "All Wendy" ATC's, showing how versatile these fun pieces can be. She used Art Part Florals, Dress forms and more and Scallops. The ATC's were coloured with various Distress inks and stamped with Ranger Archival ink using lots more of Wendy's fabulous sets.

This junky ATC is all about Halloween. Nancy loves that these little stand-alones are perfect for shelves or tabletop decorating. Starting with a scrap piece of wood, she added Wendy Vecchi's Studio 490 Art Parts. The shelf is from the Sample Pack and was painted with black acrylic. The bottle is from the Borders & Bottles set and used several layers of paint including Pearl Metallic Dabber to give the bottle of bit of sheen.
Candy Colwell
Candy created a very vintage shabby chic chunky ATC titled "Time Passages".  Using a color palette of Vintage Photo, Tumbled  Glass Distress Inks and a Gold Paint Dabber,  Candy has mixed Ideaology elements including Sprocket Gears, Muse Tokens, Trimmings and Vials to intricately embellish each side of this piece that definitely reminds us of how precious time is!

Linda used the butterfly from her new Wendy Vecchi Nature's Art to provide the focal point for her ATC.   Plenty of Faded Jeans and Vintage Photo Distress Inks were used in addition to Denim Color Wash and Antique Linen Distress Stickles.

ATCs were one of the first things Dan started making when he first began crafting, but he hadn't made one in a few years!  I guess it's one of those things you don't forget, like riding a bike!  Products he used included the Artistic Collages, Regal Findings and Urban Tapestry stamp sets and Distress Stains in Peeled Paint, Forest Moss and Scattered Straw
Terry learned from her teamie that once she started with one ATC, the rest would follow and she was right. Terry made 3 ATC's with fabulous products from The Wendy Vecchi such as the Just Fly Butterfly and Just Flutterby Butterfly. The flowers are from Wendy's stampset Dreams of Art just like the border. The sentiment is from The Tim Holtz Odds and Ends. The ATC's were worked on with Vintage Photo, Rusty Hinge, Wheatered Wood, Peeled Paint, Spiced Marmelade and Dried Marigold. On top she used Glossy Accents, Crackle Paint and the middle one was heat Embossed, with Copper Embossingpowder.
I used Spiced Marmalade and Mustard Seed Distress Stains to create my background. I then added lots of stamping in Coffee Archival ink using the Tim Holtz Bitty Grunge plate among other Tim Stamps. Using inspiration from the text from Stuff to Say I then embellished the ATC with pictures from the Lost and Found Stash a some Idea-Ology Memo Pins.

Simon Says Stamp and Show Some Steampunk!

Hello to everyone! Thank you for playing along with the blog hop ... Congratulations to all the winners too! The winners from our Travel Challenge will be announced this Wednesday .... so don't forget to check back ... this could be your winning week! Now service resumes to normal and this week Simon Says Stamp and Show ...Some Steam Punk! If you want to join in the fun ... all you need to do is ... create something that ties in with our theme ... pop it on your blog ... and come back here and link up so everyone can see what you made! Before you start take a look at what the Design Team came up with...
Steampunk makes Lynne think of different mediums and textures, so that's where she began. She covered a paper mache book box with Graphic 45 Steampunk papers using Multi Medium. She then spritzed the whole book with Biscotti Perfect Pearls Mist. She used the Sewing Room and Gadget Gears dies and cut from various mediums. She accented her butterflies with Patina Stickles.
Candy decided to mix Steampunk with Halloween. Meet Mr. Bones! Complete with Witch Hazel, a Skeleton Key and a Mini Steampunk book, Mr. Bones is Steampunked out! His clothes look like faux leather. They are made out of black cardstock sprayed with Ink Refresher. That ghostly glow is from Copper and Gold Perfect Pearls. The embellishments on Mr. Bones' book, hat, vest and leggings are mainly from Tim Holtz' Sprockets and Gears, Game Spinners with a little 7 Gypsies Industrial Gears thrown in the mix.
Tracy was eager to use one of the Wendy Vecchi Artful Shrines and the STEAMPUNK theme seemed the perfect opporunity. The shrine was coloured with Distress Stain Vintage Photo and decorated with Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante Paper. Tracy added art parts from the Dress Forms And More set (using the heart and dress form), decorating the dress form with Graphic 45 papers and adding Black Ultra Thick Enamel to the heart. To add dimension, the whole piece was adorned with Idea-Ology, Game Spinners and Sprocket Gears and Gadget Gears cut from Grungepaper. To complete, STEAMPUNK was added to Jump Rings adhered with Glossy Accents.
Terry made a Steampunk Heart....she wanted to use the new Steampunk stamps from 7 Gypsies and the fabulous Graphic 45 Steampunk Debutante paperpad. The film strip is selfmade, colored with Distress inks and stamped with The Wendy Vecchi Dreams of Art Set and heat embossed. The flowers from The Wendy Vecchi were colored with Vintage Photo, Pine Needles, Rusty Hinge and Aged Mahogany. On top she worked with the Glossy Accents and Crackle Accents. The mini dress was heat embossed and worked on with copper embossing powder.
Ellen decided to get 'punky' with an extra large tag. She used papers from Tim Holtz' Crowded Attic stack and Graphic 45's Steampunk Debutante collection to cover the base of the tag, and then used Tim Holtz dies (weathered clock and mini gadget gears) to weave a pattern of clocks and gears, painted with Ranger's black paint dabber and highlighted with gold paint dabber. Added some idea-ology sprocket gears, a 7 Gypsies metal corner, and a sentiment from Dyan Reaveley's Quintessential Quotes stamp set.
With Steampunk as the challenge this week, Nancy went straight to Graphic 45's Steampunk Debutante 8x8 paper pad. The smaller scale of these patterns were just the right size for the Altoid-like tin Nancy decided to alter. Two sizes of Grungeboard Wings were put through a Sizzix embossing folder before being painted and inked. They were then added to the front of the tin along with Idea-ogy gears.
Sarah immediately imagined eccentric Victorian inventors, lots of metal and gadgets! Tim's Steampunk stamp collection provided the perfect trio of gentlemen and detailing. Sarah also used lots of Wild Honey Distress Stain, Espresso Color Wash, Alcohol and Distress Inks to colour and stamp her background. An array of rusty metal findings finish her piece.
Dan

Dan was inspired by the Jules Verne steampunk classic "20,000 Leagues Under the Sea" to create this porthole-styled clock.  Products he used included the chocolate brad set, Claudine Hellmuth Charcoal Black paint, Tim Holtz Sprocket Gears, the Big Top stamp set, a plaquette and the Clockworks embossing folder.

Linda Coughlin
Linda chose to portray steampunk as a time early in the mechanical age which was possibly explored at the Paris Exposition of 1889.   She cut chipboard gears with the Gadget Gears die, stacked them 3 high and coated the entire piece with fiber paste.  When dry, she used Vintage Photo Distress Stain as a color wash and stamped images from Artistic Outpost's Paris Exposition on tissue paper and adhered them with Claudine Helmuth's Multi Medium Matte.
For the theme this week I decided to make a card! I used Tim's Weathered Clock die, then masked and stamped the centre waste with several of Wendy Vecchi's Steampunk Art stamps. I embellished the final card with Idea-ology Sprocket Gears.
